Joint campaign with European trade unions on the REACH 2013 registration deadline At the eighth seminar on Workers' Protection and Chemicals taking place in Brussels 26-27 June, the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and the European trade union IndustriAll launched a joint campaign with ECHA and the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work (EU-OSHA). Using the slogan of ECHA's 'REACH 2013 - Act Now!' campaign, ETUC and IndustriAll call on worker representatives in companies manufacturing, importing or using chemical substances to act as ambassadors of REACH in their companies. For that purpose, they are asked to pass on a new information leaflet, prepared in collaboration with ECHA, to their employers alerting them on their legal duties and the urgency of the 2013 registration deadline. |

ON THE WEB Public consultation to avoid unnecessary animal testing: 64 testing proposals 25 June 2012 Deadline for submitting information: 09 August 2012 ECHA's Multi-Annual Work Programme 2013-2015 published 26 June 2012 ECHA's Multi-Annual Work Programme 2013-2015 outlines the Agency's planned activities for the coming three years, which are an important period for ECHA. Throughout this period, ECHA will work on four individual pieces of EU legislation: REACH; Classification, Labelling and Packaging; Prior Information Consent on Export and Import of Hazardous Substances; and Biocidal Products. The latter two regulations are entirely new to the Agency and come at a time of peak activity under REACH and CLP. Preliminary conclusions of the 26th Management Board meeting published 27 June 2012 The meeting took place between 20-21 June 2012. ECHA publishes a new factsheet on communication obligations for certain substances exempted from registration under REACH 26 June 2012 The document explains that even though some substances may be legally placed on the market without a registration number, suppliers of such substances should communicate information down the supply chain to enable their safe use.
